Abstract

Innovation is crucial in this period of historic, global turbulence amidst seismic environmental, technological and (geo)political change. But what is innovation? 'Liberalism 2.0 and the Rise of China' challenges the typical depiction of innovation as new technologies which ‘solve’ specific ‘problems’. Innovation is presented as something much more complicated - a thoroughly social, cultural and political process with profound implications for the arrangement of power in society, and hence also a lens on emerging futures and how we can shape them.
