Abstract

This essay “uses the theologically-inspired phenomenology of Marion to show how [Herman Diephuis’s 2004 piece D’après J C] contests the opposition that Derrida set up between a theological and non-theological stage. [The essay] finishes […] by touching on a transcendent form of ethics and politics that recalls the humanism of French Catholic thinkers and writers of the early to mid-twentieth century” (Finburgh and Lavery 2011: 23).
