CAP (Community Access Programme) is an action research project based in Lancaster University's Department of Educational Research. This programme works with adults who have diverse educational and life experiences including learners with a disability, adults who are long-term unemployed and older adults, the majority of whom left school with few or no formal qualifications. In addition to these groups of learners, CAP has undertaken extensive work with women of Asian heritage, in particular Muslim women. As part of our African Caribbean and Asian Curriculum project (Funded by Lancashire County Council) we have developed culturally relevant curricula using our foundation credit framework of skills appropriate for higher education. These include personal development, study, investigation and enterprise skills.
