We investigate and optimize sources of high-energy narrowband terahertz (THz) radiation by stacking lithium niobate wafers in a periodically-poled configuration. We explore source performance as a function of wafer number, pump fluence, pump pulse duration and wafer separation, demonstrating the potential for a low-cost, highly-scalable, flexible narrowband THz source.
