Abstract

This paper explores the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Bangladesh, employing Institutional Theory to analyze how institutional barriers impact its uptake and influence economic inequalities. Through a mixed-methods approach, the study identifies key obstacles—such as infrastructural deficits and skills shortages—that hinder equitable AI deployment. Contributing to the fields of technology adoption, economic development, and institutional analysis, it provides empirical evidence on the institutional contexts affecting AI adoption in developing economies. The findings deliver actionable insights for policymakers and entrepreneurs, offering strategies to navigate institutional challenges and promote an inclusive AI-driven economic environment. The research enriches the academic discourse by bridging the gap between technological innovation and sustainable economic practices, guiding effective policymaking and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
