Abstract

The theme of gender and energy has two dimensions, both closely related to the role of energy and its social implications in the private and public spheres of life. Firstly, the impact of contextual factors such as environmental structures on social relations at the nexus of energy-human interactions cannot be underestimated. Secondly, this understanding is essential in unpacking the relationship between gender and energy (Braudel, 1992; Harris, 2004) and, subsequently, gender inequality in the energy sector.
