Abstract

I have created and am maintaining this website, which features the first catalogue of known literary back-translations. It explains what literary back-translation is, why it matters, how it can be done ethically, and why it contributes to decolonization. It invites researchers and the common reader to get in touch through a contact form, if they wish to contribute to the catalogue. All contributions are gratefully acknowledged on the website. This is part of my efforts to build the subject as a proper subfield within Translation Studies. It enables me to foster a community of young researchers working in that subfield. It also aims to ensure the legacy of the first book on the subject I have edited, Literary Back-Translation (Edinburgh Press, 2025).
