Abstract

Squirrel Learning is a school improvement services company, co-founded by a previous head of Wolverhampton City Council Education Technology Services, focusing on vital needs of schools and wider education policy, specialising in education technology applications and consultancy. As a part of its portfolio, Squirrel Learning has developed an innovative platform (BoomReader) to support the monitoring of reading by young people. This report considers the issues and concerns that are currently raised about reading at early ages. It explores the potential of data sources and dashboard presentations offered by Boom Reader by focusing on those issues and concerns in more detail at policy levels (school, local or national) that could assist in addressing these concerns currently and in the future.
