Abstract

The Black Inquiry was one of the most significant investigations into the public health effects of nuclear power in Britain. It also acted as an effective tribunal on the continued operation and existence of the Sellafield plant. The fact that an inquriy of such importance was media induced bears testimony to the central involvement of the mass media in current public affairs and its potentially active role in influencing the public and political agenda. -from Authors
