Abstract

This paper explores the idea that articulation work is central to the successful production and use of technologies, and suggests that a focus on articulation work could be the basis for practices of system design consistent with feminist analyses. Articulation work is elaborated through two examples, and a design effort is described which attempts to integrate new technologies into working practices in a way that acknowledges the judgement and practical reasoning that the work requires.
