Abstract
Research in Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) is growing in maturity and is being suggested as a new paradigm for modularity since it addresses concerns like logging, security and transactions. However AOP raises security questions which are currently given a lower priority. Roles from Role Based Access Control Models (RBAC) are proposed as a means of controlling aspect weaving in Aspect Oriented Programs. The ability to perform aspect weaving within the confinements of a role allows us to control how an application is modified and minimize undesirable side effects.
