Abstract

Queen ElizabEth ascended to the throne during a time of turmoil and bankruptcy and ruled for the era known as the Age of Enlightenment. A skilled leader and effective ruler, she relied on counselors, whom she trusted implicitly, but mostly utilized her knowledge of foreign policy and the language of her neighbours to get her way abroad, while at home she effectively employed what we would now call political spin and the cult of personality.
