This, the last in a series of articles discussing new research into families with children removed in successive care proceedings, considers the need for a public health approach so that families with mental health, substance abuse and other problems receive early intervention to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect occurring. Examines the barriers to a more therapeutic family-professional relationship. Assesses the value of the model of family support at the Family Drug and Alcohol Court.
