Prolonged use of head buttons can lead to user dissatisfaction, fatigue and rejection of the technology. At Beaumont College, Lancaster, we have been experimenting with a system to enable the operation of virtual controls through head movement without the need for physical buttons. We have written custom software to repurpose off the shelf equipment to implement this idea. The operator interacts with the system through head motion and no markers need to be worn.
