Abstract

This chapter considers some of Iain Sinclair’s less critically studied works, particularly the long poem/ prose works of the 1970s, Lud Heat (1975) and Suicide Bridge (1979), and the later poetry collected in Flesh Eggs and Scalp Metal (1989) and Penguin Modern Poets 10 (1996). The chapter traces Sinclair's inheritance of a Modernist poetics (derived from Charles Olson's 'Projective Verse') and his relation to the 'British Poetry Revival of the 1970s.
