Abstract

Cascade backward wave amplifier is an effective solution to provide a high level of amplification at THz frequencies. An input backward wave amplifier section is separate by a drift tube from a second backward wave section, the amplifying section, where the modulated electron beam establishes an RF growing wave. The novelty of this configuration at THz frequencies requires a proper design method, here proposed.
