Abstract

This book, co-authored with Professor Margaret Brazier (School of Law, University of Manchester), provides an account of how the criminal courts came to and still do act as the 'theatre' in which so many ethical problems are aired and considers the depiction of bioethics in real theatre. It also includes an analysis of whether bioethical principles 'fit' with criminal law principles and a number of case studies in which judges have grappled with bioethics. the publisher is Cambridge University Press. The book is one of the publications emerging from the large scale AHRC funded project, 'The Impact of the Criminal Process on Health Care Ethics and Practice', 2008-2011.
