Additional Information:
This chapter is the first published exploration, operating as a pilot study ' Anglo-British attitudes towards the Irish and the Scots ' of research into the mechanisms by which prejudiced attitudes are formed and expressed (wider work compares English/Irish with Swedish/Saami and Castillian/Morisco). It introduces the notion of the 'rhetoric of antithesis' which forms an analytical tool in the expression of prejudice in general, across region and time.
