It seems that superfluid 3He-A really is a liquid ferromagnet, and it thus possesses a permanent magnetisation of its own even in the absence of any externally applied magnetic fields. The prediction by A.J. Leggett of Sussex University that this might be the case, published in Nature (270, 585; 1977) only a few months ago, has apparently now been confirmed by an ingenious experiment carried out by D.N. Poulson and J.C. Wheatley of the University of California at San Diego and reported in a recent issue of Physical Review Letters (40, 557; 1978).
