Against the backdrop of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and changes to the route to professional qualification, the impetus on Law Schools to provide effective student support is greater than ever before. This raises the question as to how we as legal academics can effectively support our students to both promote positive student wellbeing and foster an inclusive Law School community. We have developed the CADSIF formula to act as a point of orientation and guidance for us in supporting our Law students. CADSIF focuses on structuring support by ensuring ‘Contact’ with the student to provide ‘Assurance’ through a supportive ‘Dialogue’ to ‘Signpost’ students to appropriate support. This helps to provide students with the ‘Information’ they need to make informed decisions in their personal learning, alongside continual supportive ‘Follow-Ups’ by academic colleagues. This interactive session will explore the CADSIF formula and apply it to a number of student personas facing wellbeing issues. In particular, the session will draw upon participants’ own experience of providing student support and invite constructive feedback on the application of the formula to the personas.
