Education-focused academics play an increasingly critical role in shaping high-quality, future-oriented learning in business schools. Yet many experience uncertainty around identity, visibility and recognition, particularly within institutional cultures that continue to privilege traditional research profiles. Our initiative builds on the recent work of the British academy of management on Education-focused careers within UK Business-Management Schools (2024) and responds directly to challenges identified by developing a practical, evidence-informed Education-Focused Academic Identity Toolkit, designed to help colleagues articulate their identities and career objectives, capture their impact, and engage confidently in progression, development and leadership conversations.
