Abstract

Several epigenetic modifications are attributed to the pathophysiology cycle of COVID-19 by interfering with the many stages in the life cycle of SARS-CoV-2. Owing to the critical role they play both in viral gene regulation and also in orchestrating the host immune response, targeting epigenetic pathways offers fertile and viable targets for novel drug development. In this chapter, we critically assess and analyze the role of epigenetic regulation in viral pathogenesis and cellular pathways that dictate the balance between host and viral interactions. We have also comprehensively discussed molecular druggable epigenetic pathways targeted by SARS-CoV-2 infection to offer future development of novel therapeutics.
