Semiotics is an interdisciplinary field that explores the complexities of meaning—how all communicative acts are interpreted and to what effect. The accelerating development of modern technologies and media has brought new questions and challenges to contemporary meaning making and communication. This new landscape has been affiliated with postdigital studies, which signifies a new era when digital technologies are widely embedded in education, science, and everyday life, integrating virtual and analog experiences. Combining postdigital and semiotic studies establishes postdigital semiotics. It critically analyses communication and meaning making in an interdisciplinary manner, across living beings, digital media, and the environment.
