The aim of this book is to provide health practitioners, academics, and students (who are interested in technology and ageingaging) with an accessible overview of developments of how AgeTech technologies can potentially support the delivery of palliative care for older people. This book is written to be accessible for readers from a several disciplines, focusing on describing issues related to ageingaging and palliative care. We begin with an overview of origins of palliative care by describing the hospice movement, and its significance to older people and ageingaging. We then describe developments in AgeTech, highlighting its potential to support palliative care needs of older people, and the associated opportunities and challenges. In the following chapters, we discuss the palliative care needs for older people, from a user-centred perspective, and we document how AgeTech can be used to address these specific problems. We conclude this book by describing the future scenarios and implications (practical, research and policy) for stakeholders to consider when identifying how AgeTech can support the palliative care needs of older people.
