Abstract

Despite the growing academic interest in B2B platforms as digital interfaces that allow multiple business users to interact and manage data for value creation, our understanding of digital platforms in the traceability and transparency (T&T) sphere remains limited. This study seeks to unravel the complex ecosystems and value creation of digital platforms in the T&T context. Drawing on qualitative case studies, we propose a novel way to classify T&T platforms into three types: transparency platform, compliance platform, and traceability platform. Then, we reveal unique ecosystems of each platform typology and the distinctive value creation platforms offer to their ecosystems.
