Abstract

Publications of systematic reviews are increasing. In this chapter you are taught the skills to not only critically appraise these reviews but also develop skills in conducting your own review. We explore what a review is, methods for conducting a review, and how to focus your review question, search for literature, appraise the quality of research papers for the review, choose which papers to include, extract data from included papers and synthesise the findings from these papers. We signpost you to other sources of help for particular review methods.
