Abstract

Working with alcoholics involves three preliminary steps. The first one requires the worker to establish the contribution of alcohol to the person’s difficulties. In the second the helper works with the client to secure his co-operation. These two processes pave the way for the third, in which an offer of help is made and a variety of strategies are examined to determine which might be most effective.
