Abstract
Lancaster City Council owned City centre creative hub, The Storey, was redesigned to create a ‘live’ wayfinding test bed for a new methodology to provide automated designs for social distancing. Businesses and retailers from the service industry were invited to explore, consult and give feedback to both the research and the redesign. Using generative design methods, the redesign automated and implemented optimised wayfinding design to ameliorate the risk of areas identified as non-compliant. The study provided data gathering for analysis and review of the success of the redesign and social distancing measures. This work will go on to test the unique methodology applied in the Storey, using Rhino and Grasshopper to automate a risk analysis of other existing floor plans to identify areas of social distance non-compliance. http://imagination.lancaster.ac.uk/update/on-site-generative-social-distancing-lab-storey/ http://imagination.lancaster.ac.uk/update/generative-social-distancing-design-team-development/
