Abstract

Utilising a SoTL approach this development paper seeks to make public the informal collaborative work of the co-authors based on their shared experience of teaching personal development (PD) modules on Senior Leader Apprenticeship programmes. SoTL has increasingly come to the fore within our institutions with the prevalence of teaching-based contracts which places more emphasis on the continued development of teaching and learning. Through an increased understanding of the benefits of adopting a SoTL approach, we started to become more reflective and reflexive about our own teaching and learning practice and feel in the spirit of SoTL there is an opportunity to make these insights public by sharing and reviewing our work through presentations, performance, or publications (McKinney 2006). The focus of our inquiry is: How can a SOTL informed approach help us to make public our personal learning and development through the lens of personal development module.
