Abstract

An exhibition of drawings and artefacts. The outcome of a 2 year collaborative research project with Ingrid Mida ( Ryerson University Canada). The project investigated drawing as a tool used by artist and curator to examine 'invisible' garments - items too vulnerable or insignificant to go on public display. It explored overlapping interests in drawing and tested new mechanisms of drawing and display. Casey's contribution was developing a new material technique of drawing newsprint and wax that embodied the material conditions of the artefacts under investigation. This resulted in a new series of drawings, exhibited alongside the artefacts. The exhibition was curated by Ingrid Mida and accompanied by an exhibition catalogue with texts by Casey and Mida. Activity was supported by the British Council and Arts Council England through a grant from the Artist International Development Fund.
