Abstract

The previous numerical studies confirms that the effect of coupling amongst loudspeakers cannot be neglected in a multiple channel active noise control (ANC) system with several loudspeakers and microphones, placed in a confined space. Depending on the electromechanical properties of the loudspeakers, the coupling happens through the enclosure acoustic modes and this will change the radiation impedance of the loudspeakers. As a result, the performance of the ANC system influence due to the changes of the supplied voltage to the secondary loudspeakers. Nevertheless, the previous investigation rely on the simplified model of the loudspeakers as a solid piston in the ANC frequency range of interest. In this study, we aim to generalize these results by including a detailed finite element model (FEM) of the loudspeaker, in which the electromechanical impedance of a real loudspeaker is simulated numerically and validated experimentally afterwards. The validated loudspeaker is used for the numerical simulation of the ANC system inside an enclosure using the finite element method.
