Abstract

This chapter argues that understanding the factors which promote creativity in a team is less important in applied settings than understanding the factors that promote the implementation of ideas into practice and action. It emphasizes the important role teamwork plays in the implementation of innovations. This can be a rather difficult process because there may be great resistance to new ways of doing things in organizations. The chapter discusses the characteristics of a team or organization which influence the innovation process. It also highlights team and leadership processes which are likely to facilitate the development of innovations in organizations.
