Abstract

Heavy electrons in metals, and the A phase of liquid 3He , provided the topics of the two invited papers given at the Institute of Physics Low Temperature Group's well-attended annual conference in London on 13 May. The two systems might seem at first to be very different from each other but in fact, they have a great deal in common, both being highly degenerate Fermi assembles in which exotic forms of superconductivity/superfluidity may occur.
