Abstract

Forensic anthropology is most frequently described as the evaluation of human remains for medico-legal purposes, and as such, the history and development of the subject is frequently relayed through prominent individuals and cases. There are other influences that play a part in the maturation of a subject, and this article aims to give a very brief account of the development of the subject from relative obscurity to almost common day conversation. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
