Abstract
Adaptation is one of the key characteristics of pervasive computing applications. However, implementing adaptation using conventional development techniques is challenging as adaptation requirements tend to affect multiple elements of a pervasive environment. In this paper, we present our experience with implementing adaptation using spect-oriented programming (AOP). We argue that the use of AOP not only provides an improved modularisation of the adaptation concern but also makes it easier to adapt the pervasive application to both changes in data and reorganisation of the pervasive environment itself.
