Abstract

When negative ions move through Hell under roton-emission-limited conditions in very weak electric fields: (a) their drift velocity falls below that predicted by the E1/3 law followed accurately for E > 400 V/m; (b) their effective mass apparently rises with decreasing E. The physical origins of these unexpected phenomena are not understood.
