Abstract

This work presents the analysis of the performance of two inline filters. One filter was designed in the Lancaster university (LU) by final year students and manufactured using Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) and the other was a Croft Engineering services (CES) traditional manufactured filter. The comparison was made between Friction factor (f) Vs Reynolds number (Re) and Pressure drop (Pd) Vs velocity (v) with the data obtained from the experiments conducted in a test rig in CES premises. This poster shows, a few initial steps that are involved in the optimisation of the additive manufactured filters. Further work is required to optimise the filter’s design to make additive manufacturing an economically viable method to manufacture filters.
