Abstract
This critical essay discusses 'Pleasureland', a series of contemporary photographs of the British seaside by UK photographer, Darren Andrews. It analyses the themes and style of this aspect of Andrews' work and situates them both in relation to his broader body of work and the work of photographers Bill Brandt and Martin Parr whose work explores similar themes. Pleasureland is published as a limited edition hardback and unlimited paperback by Blurb (http://www.darrenandrewsphotos.co.uk/section616801.html).
