Abstract
This paper introduces HJA, a Java environment allowing 3rd party developers to build applications that control and run on consumer electronics (CE) devices. HJA is contained within the Home Audio Video interoperability (HAVi) specification that has been defined by a group of consumer electronics manufacturers as a way to ensure the interoperability of digital home entertainment devices
