Abstract

This paper examines the holy fire ritual as reported and understood by Muslim, Greek Orthodox and Latin witnesses from mid 9th to mid 14th centuries, with particular reference to the wider context of indigenous Christian spiritual identities in the Holy Land and Latin-indigenous relations.
