This paper analyses the processes involved in establishing a link between academia and industry in Portugal. It reveals how organization is generated through those organizing arrangements and, in turn, how the resulting organization enables certain processes of organizing, with particular regard to the processes of organizing knowledge between universities and industrial firms. Actor-network theory provides the analytical resources for making sense of those processes. The paper aims to contribute to rethink the notion of knowledge interface by emphasizing the translation or transformation involved in bringing together different domains.
