Additional Information: The place of UFOs in popular culture has been examined for a while now but it was relatively late before the academy became aware of its implications for religious studies. By its nature, the study of UFO religion has to be multi-disciplinary and encompass different geographic regions. This volume brings together for the first time both area- and theory-specific perspectives to bear on UFO religions by both researchers of UFO culture working in the context of religious studies and scholars of religion extending their interest into the topic of UFOs. It's unifying conception is laid out by Partridge in a substantial introductory essay, in which he presents UFO religion as a distinct variant of new spiritualities, and discusses the emergence of alien abduction spiritualities in particular.
