Additional Information: This paper, reviewed by 2 international referees, has multiple authors due to the considerable size of the work involved. The research proposal, written by Sime with technical and content experts, included design and evaluation of an innovative virtual learning environment for radiopharmacists worldwide. The research was part of a 4 million Euro European Community project with 8 partners. Sime, and her team, gathered qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate the learning environment as the users migrated from a mailing list to a virtual learning environment. Originality is demonstrated in the extension of two conceptual frameworks for the evaluation of prediction of acceptance and the analysis of communication activity. Users said it was 'very useful', 'easy to use' and provided a real sense of community, a network of colleagues to ""rely on"".
