Abstract
Liquid helium thickens slightly when subjected to a strong magnetic field at very low temperatures. The latest measurements of this intriguing effect, which occurs only in liquid 3He-4He isotopic mixtures or in pure liquid 3He, are reported in a recent issue of Physical Review Letters (61, 1619-1622; 1988) by J.R. Owers-Bradley and colleagues at Nottingham University.
