| Additional Information: | This new Pelton runner design achieved a 50% cost reduction and requires only 30% of the delivery time compared with existing technology. Its innovative design has improved optimum efficiency. Because of its significance the industrial partner Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd. (P. Hensman - tel. 015395 68257) applied and paid for patents worldwide including UK, EU, Canada, Japan, and USA. It has been taken up by energy developers and ALCAN has a prototype demonstrator with a rating of 1500 kW in operation since 2004 at its Scottish Lochaber Hydro Power Station.
